I don’t know about you but I prefer to enjoy long-lasting stubble-free skin instead of constantly shaving, and that’s where sugaring comes in. If you haven’t heard of sugaring before, think of it as waxing’s gentler natural cousin who is far less likely to irritate you. While both sugaring and waxing lead to hairless skin that lasts about a month, waxing is much harder on our skin. Wax attaches to our skin as well as our hair and tugs at the skin when it’s removed. This leads to irritation as well as more pain. Sugar paste, used in sugaring treatments, attaches to only the hair and not the skin meaning it’s gentler and is safer for those with eczema and psoriasis!

Sugaring uses natural food-grade ingredients including sugar, lemon juice, water, and sometimes a little essential oil or honey. While waxes are made of resins which can be made of natural ingredients like beeswax and honey, they’re often made with artificial fragrances, dyes, preservatives, and other unnatural chemicals. The added ingredients in waxes make them more likely to cause allergic reactions in addition to added skin irritation. Alex Cardona is the owner of Lovely Sugaring and one of the warmest people you will ever meet! She is knowledgeable and loves talking about sugaring – she is truly passionate about her work. Having hair removed and can be a little awkward and even scary if you’re new to this kind of treatment. That’s part of why I was actually looking for a new sugarist when I found Alex and Lovely Sugaring. Alex puts her clients at ease with good conversation and is happy to answer any and all questions a client may have. This is likely a big part of why she has so many happy clients signing her praises in reviews.
