Lash extensions are an amazing way to achieve that flawless “I woke up like this” look while also hitting the snooze button. I recently visited a Toronto lash extensions hot spot, Pretty in the City Lash & Brow Bar with locations in Toronto and Markham, and am ready to share my experience with you!
I was curious to try Pretty in the City when a friend of a friend referred me to Mimi, a technician there. In addition to the glowing review of my fellow lash lover, Pretty in the City has also received some notable awards, including being recently named one of the best places in Canada for Microblading by Fashion Magazine online, and one of the top places for lash extensions in Toronto by Narcity. With a peer recommendation and Fashion Magazine’s approval, I had to try Pretty in the City for myself.
If you’re new to eyelash extensions, let me tell you they are amazing when done right. Waking up to perfect long eyelashes means saving time each day usually spent on combing lashes, curling lashes, applying mascara, and then the always fun mascara removal at the end of the day. With eyelash extensions, you can hit that snooze button one more time before getting up to start your day and still rock awesome lashes. If you love the look of beautiful eyelashes but want to skip the mascara, eyelash extensions are for you!
There are quite a few eyelash extension options out there. At Pretty in the City I had hybrid eyelash extensions applied. Hybrid lashes are a combination of classic eyelash extensions and volume (also known as Russian volume) eyelash extensions. Other options include, classic eyelash extensions which give a more natural look and have one extension applied per eyelash and lashes are usually between 0.10-0.20 mm in diameter. Russian volume lashes create a look of big soft fluffy eyelashes and 2-8 extensions are applied per eyelash, making this the best choice for a dramatic look or if your natural eyelashes are sparse. Russian volume lashes are thinner than classic lashes with each extension being about 0.07mm in diameter. Hybrid lashes are a combination of classic and volume eyelashes for a dramatic yet still natural look.
Upon entering Pretty in the City, I was greeted by the light clean scent of mint leaving me feeling refreshed. The receptionist was very nice and signed me in for my treatment. I then headed to the bathroom to remove my own eye makeup. This is what sets Pretty in the City apart from other salons I’ve visited: often your technician will remove your makeup for you but here, clients are in control of their own makeup removal which I enjoyed as it’s something I prefer to do myself. Another aspect I liked about the Pretty in the City lash extensions experience was the privacy. Here, lash extension services are performed in a private room instead of out in the open on display for all to see; this privacy allowed me to relax and enjoy the experience even more. Having a beauty treatment isn’t just about the result but also the experience, and as a customer, I always look for the professionals who keep customer experience in mind.
After my technician, Mimi placed about 5 lashes on my first eye she let me check them out in a mirror to ensure it is in line with the look I want, something I’ve never experienced anywhere else. This empowered me to make sure I was getting the results I was looking for. I loved what Mimi had done so far, and gave the go-ahead to continue. Mimi was wonderful! She’s easy to talk to and honest when asked for her opinion which I always like. She truly felt genuine which helps me to relax further and enjoy myself.
During my appointment I also had my brows groomed to complete my new eye look. In addition to being known for great eyelash extensions, Pretty in the City also provides exceptional brow services!
When I left the salon, I felt refreshed both inside and out. Inside I was relaxed and, on the outside, I had new flawless eyelashes! I highly recommend Pretty in the City, and Mimi, to everyone looking for eyelash extensions and brow services in Toronto and Markham! Have you visited Pretty in the City?
